Botanical
Trek:
Natural History of the Patagonia Cordillera will take
us on an epic journey into the remote regions of Patagonia.
From the Argentine plateaus we will head up into the
Andes, traverse the continental spine, and drop down
into the vast forests of southern Chile, studying the
flora and fauna along our transect. The associated
courses will focus on the biotic communities of Patagonia,
and will also consider the pre-historical context and
biotic factors driving the observed species assemblages.
Although we will study both plants and animals, this
program will emphasize the vegetation of this region.
